At 7 weeks of age, Yorkie's don't really have control of their bladders. Their bladders are to little and they are too young. We had to bring Princess Sophie home at 9 weeks and we almost lost her on the ride home due to an attach of hypoglycemia. I learned from others on this site the importance of having Nutrical on hand with puppies this young. If you don't have any, you can also use [I]Kayro[I] syrup or even pancake syrup but really Nutrical is best.
We are pad training Princess Sophie and at just days short of being 4 months old, she does pretty good as far as peeing goes. We do have some issues with her going #2 on the pad. Some days she does great and some days she just doesn't. I realize that at 4 months of age, who is really trained is us. LOL I know she will get it but some puppies aren't really, truly, potty trained till they are at least one year old. Sounds sad but that does happen.
With our training, I have tethered Princess Sophie to me. She wears her harness and a short leash attached to my belt loop and she goes with me wherever I go. This way, if she starts sniffing around, I can take her right to her potty pad. BTW, she always gets a treat (we use little pieces of boiled chicken) when she uses the pad properly. Sophie is definitely treat trained. LOL
I'm sure others on YT will also have important information to share with you as well and I want to encourage you to find out all you can about the Yorkie breed, if this is new to you because Yorkies are just different from other dog breeds.
Good luck and again Welcome to YT and please post pictures when you can. We all love to see picts of everyone's fur babies!!
