I would like to start a thread again about the dangers of sago palm plants. I lost my beloved three year old baby girl, Roxie, to this terrible plant back in January after she ate one of the seeds. The death from cycasin, which is the poison in this plant is a very bad one. Even with extremely agressive (and expensive) medical treatment, my baby girl still passed away in less than four days. It is the most heartbreaking, gutwrenching thing I have been through in a long, long time. Please be aware there is not one part of this plant that is not poison. I have attached a link I found just this week regarding this plant. Please, please keep your pets safe. The seeds come off in December, January and February from what I have read, but could be anywhere, anytime. I will also include a picture so everyone can identify the plant. They are used alot here in the south for landscaping and are now being sold as houseplants. PLEASE BEWARE! I WISH I HAD KNOWN AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF MY YARD AND MY ROXIE WOULD STILL BE WITH ME.
