I also keep my baby sanitary cut, it is almost necessary in my case because Sophie Kate does not like anything around that area at all (including people cutting). I do while she is sleeping and just snip away as much as I can before she wakes up.
I also wipe her little booty with a baby wipe when we come back in from a walk (another thing she does not enjoy but is necessary).
