Sorry to be a little blunt about this, but...

You really don't have a choice !
Her carrying debris on her and around the house is unacceptable. Her hair will grow back ! Use Scissors or an Electric Clipper and make a "poop slot" back there for her. Don't forget to take a little hair off under her tail as well, but don't cut it too short, it gets "prickly".

I have this problem (x3) during the winter months every year, when I let my guys coats grow out.
