I had trouble getting on Microsoft's website for updates for weeks and finally had to call them and let them take my computer over remotely and 3 days later, they finally got all the fixes and patches in and it worked again. Maybe call your browser's support call center and even if it costs, it will be worth it. With Microsoft, I had IE8 back then and so they support that for free.
