#2 In a multi doctor practice you can see the doctor you prefer. ASK for an appoint with the one you like. If it is not an emergency it is fine to rearrange a day or two one way or the other.

I'm glad you voiced your concern with them. I, personally, would not use that vet again. I have changed vets within the same office, and it was not awkward at all. After all, it's your pet, and your money.
