Hi and welcome to YT! Lots of great people here to help you with any question you may have.
It was recommended to me, when we brought Princess Sophie home, that we have her sleep in her crate at night with her crate on my night stand so she could see me and not be scared and help her with her separation anxiety. She did really well, even thought she cried for a short time, for about a week, then we brought her to bed with us and she has been there ever since. LOL When she was sleeping in her crate, we also had a blanket from the breeder's that smelled like her mommy which helped. I also purchased a "self-heating" crate pad to help her keep warm and that works very well too.
We have a play pen that can hold her crate, a potty pad, food and water, and a few toys. She is confined to her play pen when we are away. It works really well. I have heard several other members here have the metal crate that can be attached to an X-pen for their pups and they are very happy with that arrangement as well.
I'm sure that you will find your way as you welcome this new addition to your family. Just remember training is essential to having a socially acceptable puppy in your home and out of doors and being consistent helps a great deal.
Please keep us posted on how things are going and don't be afraid to ask questions, I asked tons before we brought Princess Sophie home.
