Default Luxating Patella surgery on a 11 year old, questions

A few days ago, Guidoune, my 11 year old yorkie wasn't putting weight on her left knee. I went to visit my vet and right away she said her knee was blown. We did xrays, even though she never whimpers or yelps when the vet manipulated her knee and she is getting around and "acts happy" i know she is hiding the pain. The surgey is going to come to approx. $1500. Right now she is on meds for the pain, while i come up with the money.

When i was there, i didn't think to ask some questions given the situation, like, how long is recovery?
How hard is this type of surgery on an 11 year old yorkie?
Has any others been through this with their older yorkies? How well did they bounce back from it?

My vet said that with this type of surgery there is a 1% chance of it slipping/popping back out again. That is why she is recommending it.
Is it harder for the knee to stay in place on older dogs?

Guidoune is 11, i believe, i got her when she was supposedly 2 years old. She has 4 teeth left since her last surgery last spring, she is also going blind, and occaisionally spits up, i am not sure how old she is exactly, but she is very high spirited and very much alive that i know i owe it to her to make her better, even if i may only have a few years left with her...

I appreciate all of your help, and tips, thank you very much,
Natacha & Guidoune
