I think as long as you trust the caretakers Alfie should be fine. Is Alfie potty trained to go on pee pads at all? If so, I would have your son use them. If not, I would wonder if maybe your MIL could just watch him the entire time or if it would be possible that your son only have Alfie when he is awake. Otherwise I guess I would have a lot of urine/stain cleaner on hand and hope your son does a good job of cleaning up!
