I suppose that depends who you ask. I use coconut oil for myself and I use it in home cooked dog food recipes that have strategic fat requirements. I see no benefit nor need to add additional fat to a commercial diet. Having dealt with a few (expensive) bouts of pancreatitis which is prevalent in the breed as you know, I think adding fat to the average commercial pet food diet is asking for trouble.
