You may have used too much... I found a lot of it will soak in after a day or two, so they don't look oily anymore. I apply it to my hands first then to the coat, a little extra on bad areas.

I feed it to mine with each meal, and use it topically on minor wounds, scrapes and scratches. Good to use a drop or two in the ears (not along with any meds though), and is good to use for brushing teeth.

I have used the kind sold in the baking aisle in a pinch. The organic is best as it's not chemically extracted. I get mine from Tropical Traditions... they always have a BOGOF sale, they also make one just for pets, but I use the kind for people.

I have also used the products containing CO in the beauty aisle only on their coats.

Coconut Oil is naturally antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and bugs don't like it. I used it on myself last summer as a mosquito block... it worked well.

I use corn starch or baby powder to absorb excess oil on coats, but only do a very small area to test so you don't end up with a gucky mess. Start with just a bit of powder on your fingers and apply it to a few strands of hair to see if that helps. Brush through thoroughly.
