I have some ideas.
1. Some dogs gravitate to the top person in the pack. Maybe that is DH ?
2. Some dogs see a persons desire for affection as annoying, demanding or as weakness. Puppies and weaker members of the pack solicit attention and affection.
I have really seen this bonding turn around when a puppy has to work for approval, and attention. Dogs and people are different.
Training is very bonding.
Try stepping up your training, go for walks and teach some new tricks read this;
NILIF - Nothing in Life is Free Program For Dogs hope this helps.
