 Really worried about Libby
I am so scared about recent symptoms that Libby has. Her tummy is so bloated or swelled up and this I think I first noticed on Friday. She has been doing a lot of licking the air recently. She sometimes appears to be uncomfortable and she growls when I pick her up. Growling has always been Libby's reaction to pain or upset, so I think it must hurt her. When I do pick her up, I cannot believe how big her tummy is. She has had a rapid weight gain...about 2 weeks ago she was 5.8 and today she is 6.4. I don't think she's just all of a sudden gotten fat...there is something wrong. She is drinking a lot of water, but she always has, so that symptom is not new. Last night I rolled her over to look at her tummy and noticed that in her private area, all her hair was stuck together, as if she'd sat in something very sticky. I had just bathed the dogs in the early afternoon, so she shouldn't have been messy down there. I googled "sticky urine" and found that to be a symptom of diabetes, or other scary things. I have googled so much and have myself scared to death...seeing heart, kidney or liver conditions, cancer and other diseases. I have an early morning appointment for her tomorrow with a new vet. My vet is semi retired and won't be in. I hope she's good. I already managed to get a urine sample and took up there so I don't have to try to do that in the morning. Other than these symptoms, she still eats and plays, but probably rests more than usual. She took a very large, mushy poop on Friday night, but since then, her stools have been normal. Another thing...she doesn't chew her food...she inhales it, but she has done that for so long that I don't think that would have anything to do with her symptoms. Do any of you have any ideas on what this could be? Libby is 6 years old. |
