Knowing my inlaws he may have been referred to a cardiologist and they cancelled the appointment. It is frustrating dealing with them, they are so set in their ways and do not realize the dangers associated with not keeping appointments and going for follow up exams.

In one way, you hope that is what happened....because if his primary physician never referred him to a cardiologist and did not f/u to make sure he was put on an anticoagulant, very very bad.....he is fortunate he went as long as he did without throwing a clot.....But his primary care doc most certainly should have made certain that he was started on an anticoagulant when he reviewed his meds at any appointment he has had with his PC, anytime since the diagnosis of a-fib.....
