How is Oscar today? If his eye is still swollen and watery, I would definitely take him to the vet. Could be a little inflammation or could be a scratch.
The vet can do a quick stain of the eye and will probably give you drops.
Max has a lot of eye experience.
To keep the hair out of his eyes, you can use a tiny bit of Vaseline as a gel while his hair grows out.
