Hi, I have a dog that has been having seizures for about 3 years now. When we mentioned it to our vet, they said she was not having them often enough to be on any meds either. What he did recommend is that we start watching what may be setting them off, so we did and we found that giving her chicken or anything greasy (we think anyway because she has not had a seizure in over a month now), may have been what was causing the seizures. I am not a professional or anything but I have been told not to stick your fingers anywhere near their mouths because they can end up biting you by mistake and they cannot swallow their tongues. What I do is take her up in my arms and just talk to her let her know I am with her and she comes out of them. It is very scary and I am always afraid that she will not come out of one when she does have one but we try to get by day to day hoping she can add another day to be seizure free. Great info by the way about the ice packs and stuff, it is nice to find out some different things you can do to help them. |
