I have a neighbor that got a young -- maybe a little over a year old -- Cocker Spaniel female. The original owner had surrendered her back to the breeder and the breeder sold it to my neighbors on a spay-neuter contract. They did as they had promised and took her to the vet to get spayed. They later got a call from the vet saying that he had opened her up only to discover that she had already been spayed. I would have been so angry over that situation, and my dog being cut open unnecessarily.
That happened to us quite a few years ago, we adopted a beautiful australian terrier from the ARL and agreed to spay her. Our vet felt horrible after cutting her open and finding she had already been spayed, but we couldn't see any scarring or anything. Sadly we didn't have her long as she got loose one night and hit by a car
To the OP, best wishes for your dog to have a safe whelp and healthy pups.
