When Callie was spayed I don't know what size the sutures were but it took a very very very long time for the eternal ones to dissolve and twice they ended up poking out of the incision and she ended up with an infection and had to go on antibiotics. Did your vet tell you to put the neosporin on it because sometimes neosporin can also trap germs in.
