Default Complications after a female Spay

HI there: my female (5lbs) was spayed on Jan 29th 2013 by my breeder's vet. She is a slender dog, not much body fat. She developed a reaction to spay about 2 weeks later when she was then with me. Hard mass areas developed under the skin along the suture line and some inflammed areas as well. To make a long story short, my vet diagnosed the hard areas as "granulomas" which developed as a reaction to the internal sutures the prior vet used and that with time, these hard areas should dissolve and disappear. My dogs reaction to sutures used. I got both vets on the phone while I was there and it turns out that the surgey vet used #2 suture which is a thicke gauge than a # 3 or 4. My vet said "he did on nothing wrong" but that on such a small slender dog he would have used a thinner and smoother suture as in a 3 or 4. He"d use a #2 on a lab pup, for instance. Well, its almost been 2 months since she was spayed, the hard areas have gone away, but she is still getting on and off little inflammed areas externally which i keep putting neosporin on and trying to stop her licking there which makes it all worse. Has anyone had a similar experience? Thank You. There's nothing more my vet can really do...he said to call him whenever i need.
