I started mine at 16 wks using clicker training. My trainer taught me how to use hand signals and that seems to work better than words, although I use both words and signals simultaneously. If i say a command, they do not respond as well, but if I use hand signals without words, they respond quickly.
I use Zukes training treats and Nature's Recipe training treats. Both are small and soft and I break those into smaller pieces as well.
