Mine do it too. Actually my Fletcher barks when we are not paying attention to him. When applicable, like when hubby & I are having a conversation in the kitchen, I put him in the living room and gate him in there. Then he can't get to me. He will sit on the back of the chair and stare at us, but he's quiet. It has worked and helped a lot. You have to be consistent though. If I am sitting down, they are usually welcome on or near me. But if I had to, I would get up and put them in another room for 5 mins at a time and just do it repeatedly until they get the point. They are lucky to be with me, but if they go overboard they lose the privilege (in their eyes) for 5 mins and I'll do it every 30 seconds if I have to.
