This last time it came back and it was drained twice and we were sent to a specialist to talk about the surgery. It was not expressed that it needed to happen that second so we opted to put in a drain to try and allow the glad to close and repair itself. It seemed to have worked for the most part until recently. Now the mucocele has traveled to the front of the neck and has caused quite a bit of swelling. I had him in the vet a few weeks ago and the vet did not seem concerned. I am freaked out at this point and I have another appointment for them to try and drain it. I am more than willing to do the surgery if needed but I am not sure when to say "when". I am so concerned with him being able to eat, swallow and breathe and I check it out constantly. I feel like I am loosing sleep over this and not knowing when it "gets bad". Any advice would be so helpful....poor guy is only 5!
My George had one in 2011 and I was advised to have it removed right away. Not sure if it is true, but I was told they get worse when the vets keep draining them. I definitely would not let anyone but a specialist do that surgery. There are a lot of nerves in that area and the surgery can be tricky.
