Did your baby eat the potato while it was till super hot? I would think that a normal reaction would be it's too hot to eat. I know when I give Uni Honest Kitchen if it's too hot she really wants to eat it but just kind of flicks it around with her tongue.
Also some dogs are allergic to white potatoes. I would be calling the vet for sure.
