Bless those big guys, I hate to "mistreat" them, but the can be SO dangerous, and one quick swipe from one of them, could put you in misery for a very long time, if not worse.
Many of us have Shotguns. They make a large variety of ammo, which includes Blank Shells (no bullet, just a loud bang) and Rock Salt loaded Shells as well, which a Bear could recover from quickly.
Those guys are so quick and mobile, I really doubt the viability of calling 911 or Animal Control. They just wouldn't be able to react quickly enough.
One really needs to take action RIGHT THEN !
