If your dog stays active, the weight gain will be minimal. I don't have any experience with laser neutering, so I'm not sure if the same precautions would be applied -- other than the pre-op blood tests. With traditional neutering, vets generally advise restricting activity (no running or jumping) for the first 48 hours, and reducing activity for up to 2 weeks. No bathing during that time frame. Ask your vet for discharge instructions. I think laser would require fewer restrictions.
Also, after anesthesia, you may want to feed a smaller dinner. My boy always wants his full meal and does fine with it, but some dogs do better with a lighter meal.
