Teachers have no control over what to teach. We just do what we are told. If people would put more pressure on the government offices instead of blaming the teachers more might be accomplished. And there needs to be accountability on teachers, students, and parents. Not just the teachers. | well said Teachers are teaching to the "test" because if they don't they will not be rehired. Things like writing and grammar is a lost art. The parents must take more control of what is happening to education and not let someone (Government) who does not know much about teaching make the decisions. Who profits from the test? Not us, not the kids, not the schools... it is the companies who write and print the test, the booklets etc They are in with the elected officials who are making the test a requirement. Also, it is changing... lol has been added to Webster! Think of what the kids hear in their music, TV and community... that is their true grammar teachers. The problems are not just the teachers; it is a combination of parents, community, Government and the changing world. It is hard to have students understand concepts from our generation when they have more power in their smart phones then the first space mission!!! Spell check, auto correct, memory dialing makes our minds go to mush, imho Well, I am sure I made grammar mistakes in my above rant. I will stop now.
