Some also use the #15 to trim ear flaps, this is used to trim poodle paws.

Do you have the rechargable Arco Wahl? Mine hasn't been working right either...it actually nicked my guys last time I used it. I'm guessing the blade needs to be replaced & maybe that's why they sell it separately...I might send it in to get sharpened.
Mine is the Andis rechargeable...I'm thinking like you that the blade needs to be replaced or if I can find a place to sharpen it. The #40 blade seems to be a little too close for me...I will try the #10 or the #15 and see how that goes.
