i believe it automatically makes you both friends. Good question though. You can double check by looking at your own profile page under the "friends" tab when they accept your request. It might take a while, depending on when they receive your request so don't worry if it doesn't happen right away. Time zones and everything.
BTW I love your pups names!! Especially the one coming!! Very Edwardian!!
