I feel for you and Galen! Princess Sophie doesn't seem to mind being tethered. I think she's actually learning to walk with a leash by doing this. She just trots alongside me as I move from room to room. I do not tether her when she's in her playpen. She does however have some free time in the evening as that is the time of day when she runs laps around the den. It's pretty funny to watch. She kind of creates her own race track, around the hassock, the Cloud 9, my embroidery stand, and in and out of the big bed under the end table and in and out of her playpen. She's a hoot to watch. We only allow this after she has done all of her business so as to avoid mistakes. I think this will work for us, now all I have to do is stay on top of it. LOL I figure if she "goes" somewhere she shouldn't, it's my fault not hers. LOL
