Why is it that a lot of owner's of dog aggressive dogs are worse than their dogs? I have a friend that owns 2 pits. She has a fenced-in yard as do the neighbors on either side of her. My friend has also put up another 6-foot fence to make it a double chain link fence. The neighbors on either side have small dogs. She never sends her dogs out unsupervised, and if one of the small dogs is out the pits are put into a covered kennel run on the side of the house. These dogs have never shown any aggression towards people or other dogs and they both just ignore the small dogs even if they are barking at them. My friend believes in that old saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Too bad all dog owners weren't this responsible there would be far less maulings of dogs and people. There's nothing wrong with owning pits, rotties and other dog/people aggressive breeds, but be aware of how much damage these dogs can cause and be responsible with them!
