I don't believe they are too heavy. The cover is made of a poly and cotton blend and the inside is a light polyfill stuffing. It's about 80 degrees here and my boys actually love them as a built in neck pillow! I'm thinking you can probably even store them in the freezer to keep them cool (I emailed my contact to be certain).
