The topical products work by being absorbed into the skin. As for Revolution, leaving it on longer than two hours will not accomplish any stronger/longer protection, because the maximum dosage has been all absorbed after that amount of time. You can lessen the protection by washing it off sooner, which you would want to do if your pup has any unexpected reaction to the product, but once it's left on for the required amount of time, they've gotten the full dose.
