Dogs do know and are far more sentient creatures than anyone used to think. It hurts to watch really old movies and read books written early in this century to see how badly many dogs were treated, called dummies and hit, starved, kicked out for just anything they did wrong, any mistake. They are intelligent, caring and sympathetic creatures of unbelievable beauty.
