A while back a neighbor who was only renting there house left their dog. I went and fed it everyday for almost a month as well as some of my neighbors throwing leftovers over the fence. Finally, one neighbor came to me and said what are we going to do with this dog . He was digging holes under the fence. I couldn't get near the dog... I got to where I were throwing 15lb bags over the fence every 3 days. Finally, I called animal control and they picked up the dog that day but wouldn't have IF the house wouldn't have been empty. Finally, the previous renter wrote me a message on Facebook telling me I had no right and when they went to court... They took someone with them who said they were feeding the dog. They didn't ask me to go to court or I could have proven with a camera that was on my house no one ever came. They turned the dog over and got dismissed.
Wow! Thank god for security Cameras!I'am so glad it was dismissed. You tried to do the right thing and it almost came back on you.The previous owners just left him and moved out, poor dog I know I would have done the same :/. That is my biggest fear! That the neighbors will turn on me.Its so crazy how it feels like doing the right thing now can get you in trouble :/I did read our county codes for animals and It is legal to have a dog chained up as long as the chain is 3 times longer than the dog and the dog has to have shelter, which these ones do not!The 4 dogs chained up also look to not have registration or tags no medical care and are filthy dirty They itch allot and I find dead fleas falling of my dogs :/.So now as soon as I get out of here they will have to be de-wormed again! It sucks so bad having to pay for your neighbors dogs and their lack of care for them!
All I can do is protect my little ones and stay clear of the mess it would cause. They are doing well in their pen I have made them.I stay at home all day allot with my disabilities so we have tons of cuddle and play time inside. The pen is far away from the chained dogs out side and still I find a flea dead every now and again on my fur babies >.<.I'm thinking of sprinkling some 20 team borax around the inside of our fence to kill the fleas a little faster or going to lowes and getting some kinda sprinkle pesticide safe for the animals still. It just stinks even if animal control was called. The dogs could still be left their since the owner still lives with the dogs and the chains are the right length.I don't see any food or water or shelter, but they would probably just get a warning for that and start a neighbor hood war over it.They don't seem to be understanding nor friendly people at all!
