I love all birds and used to feed them and enjoy them, but since Cali's attack I have a whole different perspective. The live and let live thing goes like this - this is her back yard and I pay for it! We had to go through the vet bills, antibiotics ( hawks have nasty beaks and talons) and the local fish and wildlife folks (they are a protected species, and although she killed it I had to prove that I did not) with this incident. At 3 pounds and 14 ounces she fought for her life - if you ever have the misfortune to witness that with your baby your thoughts will realign I assure you.
