I have the wire one, and its on carpet. I have it set up with the crate inside and the door to the crate is always open. I have Joey walk through the xpen never over the top. His sisters crate is right next door, so they can talk to eachother all day
I got the 36 inch one because I wanted it to be the same height as Carleys crate.
