Just cannot understand why so many people are having hawk problems. I live in a rural area back in the woods. We have about every animal known to the north east including coyotes, foxes, owls and the occasional bear or wild cat that passes through. We have never had an attack on pets in the area and rarely have issues where we see attacks in nature. I think it is because there is enough wildlife to sustain the predators and they don't bother the human zones that are scattered around the area. We do take precautions with our pets and the ranchers and farmers keep a pretty close watch on their own stock.
Nature can appear cruel from a human prespective but there is a very real balance in how it all works. As long as those predators keep their distance I stay out of what they are doing. The last time we had a really big hawk come into the area a flock of smaller birds chased the big bird away every time it landed in a tree. Within a couple of weeks it was gone. |
