I, too, question the 7# standard. I have a tiny Yorkie that is right at 7#. He is sturdy and muscular, active, alert -- but still so tiny! I also have a 10# Yorkie who is all terrier. I'd love to see the AKC support a class of Yorkies that are shown as true terriers -- the blue-collar ratters of their heritage. My little guy has a baby face with a tiny nose and round eyes and is adorable... but my big guy has a strong nose, a long body and deep chest that portrays his terrier-ness, and I love it. He would be apalled at the hair sprayed bouffant do's of the current champions. We need to get back to basics and show these guys in their natuaral states.
