Honestly if you take him in tonight they will not be doing much but xraying him and giving you meds and advising you to follow up with your vet. Of course, if he is in pain, it is a good idea to get something for that....but to pay extra for xrays to me is not necessary. An emergency clinic is going to charge a lot more than a regular vet.

If he has torn a ligament, it will require surgery and that would not be done immediately. Definitely should be done soon, but is not an emergency. If it is a fracture, it most likely also needs surgery...again not an emergency.

He could have luxating patella .. and they would give him an anti inflammatory to see if that would help.

If he were mine, I probably would wait until morning unless I felt meds were necessary for comfort.
