I always do xrays.....no earlier than day 56....usually day 58. I schedule these xrays shortly after the female is bred and I have counted days.....I do not ever want to deliver babies "blind", just guessing how many could still be in there....ultra sounds are only as good as the doc reading them...and it is a skill....puppies are often missed, shadows counted as babies, etc. With xrays, you can have the film up on the light box and count spines and heads, and take your calipers and measure head/pelvic ring ratio.....I am so sorry you experienced this....really sorry for the tiny soul that was the most innocent in all this, and poor momma, who also could have paid for the vets mistake, with her life. Hope she and her tiny survivor are doing well.... |
