The standard says "not to exceed 7lbs" in reference to size, but there have been 8 - 9 pound yorkies in the show ring that have won and done well. Being too large is considered a fault and is weighed against the good points of the dog. There are a lot of judges that have size preferences when it comes to Yorkies...some prefer smaller end of the standard and others prefer larger end of the standard...and some don't care about size as long as they have good structure and movement according to the breed standard. And a Yorkie really should never be "fragile". Even a 4-5lb Yorkie should have good bone and substance to it, plenty of muscle, and be strong hearty little terriers.

Level topline, good front and rear angulation, good bite, correct movement with good reach and drive, good earset, correct pigment, correct color and coat texture, correct tailset...all of these are qualities you are looking for in a Show quality dog. No dog is perfect, but you are looking for as close to perfect according to what the standard describes as possible.
