Holland Lops tend to run a little small as far as bunnies go (if I remember correctly). And different bunnies have different fear factors. I had a Rex that would have taken on a horse, but some of my other bunnies were really timid. So if you do get one look at the temperament with the litter mates. I don't know what your Yorkie is like, but mine would have made a great rat killer back in the day. She hunts and she attacks. It is a game to her, but I don't think I would trust her around a defenseless bunny. You would have to really believe in your dogs control. Rabbits aren't always the smartest and they can cower when they feel threatened. Which could result in a lot of pressure put on your poor bunny. I am not saying it can't be done. I mean clearly some people have had success. Why don't you try a play date with your baby and the bunny first before you take it home? Feel the situation out. It is like introducing a new dog into the mix. Let them meet before you commit and fall in love. Not only will it protect the bunny, but it will help protect you from a broken heart if things don't work out. |
Great advice!
I have come to the conclusion that for now.. the bunny will have to wait. I know Taycie and I know she will not like the bunny in the slightest, she is true terrier through and through. I think all along I knew this in the back of my mind.
Maybe someday when I have a bigger apartment/house would be better. So for now.. I will spoil Taycie some more and by myself a stuffed animal! LOL!
