From my perspective I recommend doing some research. If you are passionate then educate yourself.
I did research for a couple of years, joined Yorkietalk to get advice and information just like you are doing. I did a budget up checked out local vets and I have developed allergies to dogs since my first dog.
They are an active highly social incredibly loving breed and each little bugger has its own awesome personality.
I live in a one bedroom apartment, I didn't crate train but Teegy as a pup he was kept on an expen when I was at work.
With persistence and a lot discipline they can be potty trained for outside. I have no pee pads in the house at all.

The worst thing you can do is let them sleep with you because they take over your bed and somehow my two wee 5 pound dogs have managed to give me a wee strip of my double bed.
I hope I didn't rabbit on too much.
