Probably, but I was not prepared to do that. The important thing is that the sleeping area should only large enough to sleep, stand, turn around. And then have access to the pads when needed. Otherwise puppy will soil the sleeping area. I'm sure there are other ways to train a puppy. This is what I am using and so far so good.
