Getting a second dog is a gamble. It is not a guarantee that one or both dogs won't suffer separation anxiety. I have 2, and they hate when their humans leave. After videotaping them, I discovered they slept and watched the door the entire time we were gone.

If Milo doesn't enjoy socializing with other dogs, I would vote against getting a second dog.

ETA: Don't worry about the sulky face when you leave. He has a happy life.
