When I first got my little black and tan Yorkie at 8 weeks --- I could already see the silver/grey coming in at the roots. With only a few trimmings, he is now a sliver/tan little dog. With his hair being kept short, I can say that he was silver at three months -- didn't take long.

He still has some black around his ears and face (not much), and I'm sure after a few trimmings there, it will be gone also.

I learned that my pup's father was silver and his mom was a blonde Yorkie.
So - he's taking after his parents --mostly his dad.

Keep a close eye on the roots of your Yorkie's hair - it may give you a clue as to what's going on and if any new colors are breaking through. Whatever the roots are is what's coming next!

Good luck!
