I think their size makes a big difference -- as far as how dangerous it is for them to jump off certain things.

However - my pup has been a jumper since the day I got him. He's not small. He weighs about (6 1/2 pounds at 5 1/2 months).

When I first got him at 8 weeks - he would "climb" on everything - the sofa, etc. And from the get-go, he'd jump off. He didn't just jump. He went up and then out and then down -----sailing through the air like a gazelle. He always landed well and playfully ran off to do something else.

I do try to get him before he sails - but I never yell "No no." I don't want to distract him and cause him to lose his concentration and make a bad landing.

There is no way I can stop my pup from jumping. But most of the jumps he makes are well within his ability to do well. He only occasionally goes flying off something scaring me to death.

Good luck! I guess if you're small --- you just have to jump more!

PS: He does have one step that helps him up and off the bed -- because I have hardwood floors in the bedroom.
