Its always easir the earlier you start. Plus I've found that if you wrap them up in a bath towel like a burrito with the paws exposed and laying on their back in your lap helps. That way they cant streggle as much, you may need someone to help you with it. Sounds silly but sometimes necessary so that they done get hurt. Same thing with trimming the ear hair. Ya gotta do what ya gotto do !
And dont forget the calm, soothing voice and the treats for reward after each paw.
You could always try when they are sleeping too. What they dont know wont hurt them.
