Hello and Welcome to YT! Congrats on your new baby to be!! No, those methods wont confuse him. I did that when Peanut was a puppy, when I was gone at work he would have a pee pad in his crate, when I got him I pulled it and made him go outside. He will be trained in no time. It is great you will be home- it will make training that much easier!!
