For girls, most people appreciate having a onesie for them to wear and an e-collar to prevent licking and scratching of the surgical area -- if a traditional incision is done.
Discourage jumping, running and strenuous activity for 1 to 2 weeks. Many pups bounce back very quickly, but they have to be kept quiet for at least 24 - 48 hours. An xpen or babygates helps when you can't supervise closely.
Don't bathe for 2 weeks.
